Vistor Check-In Procedures

Welcome to Evening Star!

The faculty and staff at Evening Star extend an invitation for you to eat lunch with your child and become an active volunteer. Bentonville Schools recognize that a child’s education is a responsibility shared by the school and family during the entire time a child spends in school. To accomplish this purpose, we have developed a Parental Involvement Plan, which addresses the need for schools and parents/guardians to work together as knowledgeable partners to promote the educational success of their children. Involving parents/guardians is essential to improve student achievement; therefore, as a school, we foster and support active parental/guardian involvement. Parents/guardians are always welcome and are encouraged to visit our school any time they might have questions or would like to view the operation of the school system.

Visitor Check-In Procedures:

We welcome families and guests at school. When arriving on school grounds, visitors must check in through the school office. To enter the school building, please ring the doorbell to the left of the main entrance to notify office personnel of your presence. An office staff member will be happy to answer your questions and assist you with your needs. Visitors are asked to present their valid state identification, which is scanned, and to wear the visitor badge given to them at check in. Student visitors from other schools or school-age siblings of current students are not allowed because of the dual problems of space and class disruption; this includes the lunch hours.

We welcome parents, guardians, and grandparents to join their child/grandchild for lunch for special occasions. We have cafeteria seating reserved so you may enjoy lunch with your child/grandchild. If you are visiting for lunch, you may bring food for your child, but you are not permitted to share this food with other students due to food allergies and other precautionary measures. Thank you for your support and understanding with this.

Late Check-in:

Students who arrive at school after the tardy bell has rung will need to be checked in through the front office and must be accompanied by a parent.

The tardy bell rings at 7:30 a.m. If you arrive at school later than 7:30 a.m., you will need to come into the office to sign your child in. Duty personnel will be released from the car rider line at 7:30 so that they may begin providing instruction to our students. Per District Policy, excessive tardiness will result in detention and possibly in-school suspension.

Check-Out Procedures:

Please ring the doorbell located to the left of the main entrance. Someone from our office staff will assist you. Please have a State-issued photo identification available to be scanned. This ensures the safety of our students.

Parents are encouraged to schedule a student’s doctor and dental appointments outside school hours. If this is not possible, parents must come to the main office to check out a child. Parents picking up their child during the school day are required to come into the front office to sign the student out and must show their valid state identification. For the child’s safety, the teacher will not release a child who has not been properly checked out through the office. Frequent late arrivals and/or early dismissals are disruptive to a child’s education and are discouraged. Changes in transportation home or early pick-up from school may not occur within 30 minutes of building dismissal time unless it is an unavoidable emergency.

Dropping off items to students during the school day:

Only items needed for learning will be allowed to be dropped off during the school day. Items such as glasses, Chromebooks, and lunchboxes are allowable items.
